Gunter & Co was appointed to lead the interior design of this London pied-a-terre in the heart of bustling Marylebone. The client brief was to create a cheerful but comfortable interior for the extended family with children and grandchildren to enjoy during visits to London. The apartment was designed around the living area, with the kitchen hidden behind beautifully glazed doors that slide into the walls. The principal idea to be able to accommodate family get-togethers surrounded by colourful furnishings.
As part of a larger mid-century mansion block, a lot of design detailing was created to incorporate the many building services, columns, risers and access panels seamlessly within the overall design, this holistic approach (working with the architectural constraints rather than around them) meant that the end result felt much brighter and larger than the original home, full of quirky details and finishing touches, such as bedside table niches and generous window seats.
